My name is Chris Kelly and I have been teaching in and out of the classroom with children and adults for the past 30 years. During that time, I’ve taught k-5 multiple subjects as well as grades k-12 single subject math. Currently I am a math coach and coach teachers and students in the area of mathematics here in
the San Diego Unified School District. I work with area superintendents, principals, teachers, and most importantly, students in the beautiful subject area of math. My position as a Common Core Mathematical Resource Teacher is to support pre kindergarten through 8th grade teachers in helping them become facilitators in the subject of math. I support and work with 25 schools within our school district providing mathematical professional development, coaching, and curriculum support. I also am an instructor at National University and teach courses for adults interested in and working towards becoming teachers. With that being said, the best part of my job is working alongside of students in mathematics.
My education:
- Bachelors Degree from SDSU (Liberal Studies,Education)
- California Teaching Credential
- Masters Degree from SDSU (Curriculum and Instruction)
My goals for students are as follows:
- To create a mindset within themselves that they are capable of learning anything.
- To become problem solvers.
- To view mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow.
- To become comfortable in the unknown
- To become experts in communicating ideas.
Joy should come from math!
